History: The Hill Dwarves were created when the Elder God Durvan molded the mountains into the shapes that he wanted for His children. They lived in the city of their Father, Ardkhazdur, for thousands of
years, though the fine stronghold succumbed to nature several hundred years ago. For most of time, the Dwarves have maintained a hatred of Duergar, and because of their affiliation with their dark kin, the Drow as well.
Current: The Dwarves are a small people, but they make up for height with strength of mind and strength in arms. Not only are they fierce warriors, they are skilled miners and metal workers. There is no race better at metal working than the Dwarves, making their work the finest on Anea. And sometimes, the most expensive. Their work with metal and stone and steel has left them with a love for corporeal things and a hatred of anything that is not, such as Magic.
Racial Conflict: Hill Dwarves tend to avoid all contact with Duergar, though there have been rumors of intermarriage between the two races. As do most of the other races, Dwarves loathe orcs. They do not, however, hold grudges against the other races - save for a mild dislike of Drow. It is said that Dwarves seem to look down up Wood Elves and Pixies, mainly because of the Elven and Pixie disinclination to go to war.
