Halcyon
Government: Monarchy
Rulers: Ainslie Tehya Ziarand
Location: NorthWestern Coastline of Etouria in a Valley of the Andarian Mountains
The Kingdom of Halcyon was established in the year 352 by Joash of Khalid. In 373, Joash gave over the crown to his daughter, Najya Khalid-Ziarand, who shared the inheritance with her twin brother, Vaythe Khalid-Ziarand. The twins took the city and castle, once a bastion for evil, and turned it into a sanctuary for those of the Light. Soon after this transformation, Joash of Khalid was killed by Reyavikishya, the Ice Dragon of the Underdark.
The city is situated four days travel north of the Kingdom of Tharan, at the northernmost portion of Etouria. It is nestled in a valley of the Andarian Mountains and there are only two known entrances to the city: the southern narrow mouth of the valley, which has been fortified with thick stone walls fashioned from stone of the mountains themselves, and the northern mouth of the valley, which is open to the Imperial Sea. Both are heavily patrolled at all times by Elite Guardians of Halcyon, an order of Knights who are veterans of many battles and have served the Monarchy devotedly.
Halcyon produces a vast majority of the food consumed by the entire continent, except for the products of the sea, which come from Tharan. Halcyon is also a major supplier of all gemstones and gold, making it easily the richest of the monarchies.
Halcyon, as of year 1655, is a closed city. Its citizens may leave and enter at will, but those who wish to visit are most often turned away, and those wishing to live in the city must seek an audience with the Queen.
