History: The Duergar are the Children of the Elder God Segnar, made to oppose the Dwarves of Elder God Durvan after Segnar was removed from the Hall of All Things. They were notoriously proud and judgemental, thinking their race is above all others.
Current: The Duergar are still a rather proud race and they stick to the darkest, most secret sections of the Underdark. Very few have made the choice to come to the surface, though more and more are filtering out. Still mostly intolerant, especially of Hill Dwarves, the Duergar are most likely to be found wherever the Drow are currently congregating, and/or in the Undergrounds of the major cities.
Racial Conflict: Duergar are intolerant of, but not violent towards, Hill Dwarves. They are enemies to the orcs, but are neutral to all other races.
